JERMIA M. SMITH, MA

RMHC-I PSYCHOTHERAPIST

CONGRATULATIONS! IT’S A GIRL!

Jermia will take new patients beginning February 1, 2018.

Jermia M. Smith is an adept and passionate psychotherapist in the field of Mental Health Counseling. Jermia devotes her time to Individual, Couples, and Family Therapy. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University, and she previously earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Child Sciences at Florida State University.

Here’s a personal message from Ms. Jermia M. Smith:

There’s this unspoken, forbidden rule that talking to a complete stranger about the curveballs that life may wale your way is “ridiculous” and utterly a waste of time. Often, people wonder how talking about their problems will help because they’ve had countless midnight conversations with friends, the “what I would do” lecture from their parents, or the one-sided dialogue with the family dog; all to remain in the same cyclical exchange of loneliness, sadness, and exhaustion.

I am dedicated to help you overcome personal obstacles….

Through our therapy work together, a slew of my clients have discovered their true selves and created the life they desired to live. Part of the journey in therapy is reflecting and de-cluttering your mind, body, and spirit to cultivate the change you yearn for. If you are on the search for someone to hear you in a calming and peaceful place, then your search will end today. I am dedicated to help you overcome personal obstacles and improve your relationships through self-actualization and empowerment. I’d like to share with you the journey I’ve traveled with many of my clients.

Journey to the Psychotherapist’s Couch

Many people (fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, partners, husbands, wives, daughters, sons, and a host of other imaginable roles we juggle) come into my office without previous experience or knowledge of counseling; they tend to begin our session with “I didn’t know what else to do.” They’ve tried every self-help book, conversation over cocktails, and the “happiness” diet that all lead to the road of self-defeat. By the time they reach me, they may have a failing marriage, uncommitted relationships, insomnia, a jungle gym for a living room, daily hectic schedules, and unrealistic expectations that couldn’t be met by any superhero known to man! Ultimately, some find an unhealthy friendship with food while others pass time by excessively consuming themselves with the lives of others; i.e., their children, caregivers for their parents, workaholics, and binge watching drama consumed reality TV.

So it starts with you!

Through our work together, we’ll build a healthy support system that will help you function better in your day-to-day life. You’ll learn about fuel food that will convert into energy to manage multiple opposing roles you will handle with balance. We’ll address topics such as stress management, achieving balance, healthy living, priority planning, self-care, the importance of vulnerability, and community support/resources. Together, we’ll nurture and nourish your self-confidence. With an adequate amount of sleep and creating your own peace, you’ll discover YOU in no time. My purpose is to help you remember who you are and help you become who you want to be.

Call me today to start your Journey….
