My name is Christiana “Chrissy” Orr, MS RMHC-I.
I have always had a passion for engaging children and teens. For several years while studying my craft, I simultaneously worked with non-profit organizations such as the YMCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters. These experiences gave me the opportunity to engage with families and children from different backgrounds and with various struggles to overcome.
Whether the issue was depression, ADHD, Autism, or Anxiety, I have had experience working with them all. However, my focus has always remained on the child and the family, not on the label that society places upon them.
I believe each child, teen, and young adult has a purpose and my goal is to help you discover it. No matter the difficulties or roadblocks, delayed does not mean denied. You are not a diagnosis and though may be struggling with mental health or behavioral challenges, I want to encourage you to never let anyone minimize who you are. I want to build a therapeutic relationship that is genuine and open. My approach is compassionate and collaborative. I enjoy working with people from all backgrounds and ethnicities.
One of my favorite quotes is:
“You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.”
I’ve always used this quote as a motivating force with any difficulty or discouragement that may have seemed to derail me. The beauty of the quote is that it captures the optimism that no matter what has been thrown your way, you can still stand tall, be strong, and have confidence. I believe therapy is just the first courageous step to revitalizing your life. I am excited that you & I will be working together, and I am looking forward to helping you Make Life Better on Purpose!
